North Korea pulls out of military agreement with South and stations arms in border region.
North Korea has decided to withdraw from the inter-Korean Comprehensive Military Agreement of 2018 and has reportedly positioned more advanced weaponry and updated military equipment in the border region.
This action follows North Korea's suspension of the 2018 military accord with South Korea, which was in response to Pyongyang's launch of a spy satellite.
The Defence Minister, as stated by the Korean Central News Agency, has warned that South Korea will respond swiftly and firmly if North Korea uses the termination of the agreement as an excuse to engage in any provocative acts.
The Comprehensive Military Agreement, signed during a 2018 summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and former South Korean President Moon Jae-in, aimed to alleviate tensions on the peninsula and foster trust between the two nations.
