Nigerian former President, Goodluck Jonathan urged the National Assembly to review the country's election process.

In a recent statement, former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, emphasized the need for the National Assembly to regularize elections in the country. After voting in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Jonathan commended Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa States for successfully conducting peaceful elections.

However, he expressed concern about the growing trend of off-season elections and urged the National Assembly to take action.

Jonathan also  emphasized that if this trend continues, even the presidential elections might be held off-season, recalling the close call in 2007 when he was the running mate to late President Ya'radua. The urgency to block off-season elections in line with the interpretation of the law by the judiciary is paramount to ensure the smooth functioning of democratic processes in Nigeria.
