Sam Altman to return as OpenAI CEO
OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, made an announcement on Tuesday regarding the return of Sam Altman as the Chief Executive Officer. This comes after Altman's unexpected departure caused a crisis within the pioneering artificial intelligence firm.
Following his exit, major investors such as Microsoft, engaged in intense lobbying for Altman's reinstatement. In response to the situation, hundreds of OpenAI staff threatened to resign and called for the board's resignation, leading to speculation about the company's future.
OpenAI stated that they have reached a preliminary agreement for Altman to return as CEO, alongside a new initial board consisting of Bret Taylor as Chair, Larry Summers, and Adam D'Angelo.
The organization is currently working together to finalize the details. Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, announced earlier this week that he would hire Altman to lead an AI research team, showing his support for Altman's return.
Microsoft has.also made significant investments in OpenAI, incorporating its technology into various products, including the Bing search engine.
