Army raids IPOB, ESN camps in Anambra, resulting in one fatality.

 On Monday, troops from Exercise Golden Dawn III conducted a raid on the camps of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliates, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in the Orsumoghu area of Anambra State. This operation was carried out in collaboration with personnel from the Nigerian Navy, the Nigerian Police Force, and local vigilante operatives, as stated in an official statement posted on the Nigerian Army's official X handle on Tuesday.

 The statement revealed that the gallant troops successfully cleared and destroyed the IPOB/ESN camps during the raid operations.

 While one of the terrorists was apprehended, others managed to escape with gunshot wounds and a pump-action rifle was recovered during the operation.

 The statement read, "During the raid operations, the gallant troops cleared and destroyed IPOB/ESN camps. One of the terrorists was naturalised while others escaped with gunshot wounds and one pump action rifle was recovered." 

 Furthermore, the statement highlighted that during a patrol on Saturday, the troops dislodged the irredentists in the Ihiala Local Government Area, effectively disarming them. The criminals were forced to abandon their location due to the superior firepower of the troops. The recovered items from this encounter included 27 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm ammunition, three locally made hand grenades, two handheld radios, one pair of NPF uniform, and a fragmental jacket and charms.

 The statement read, "In the same vein, on Saturday 9 December 2023, troops on patrol along Orsumoghu - Ukpor road in Ihiala Local Government Area came in contact with the irredentist. 

"However, due to superior firepower, the criminals were forced to abandon their location. Items recovered include 27 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm ammunition, three locally made hand grenades, two handheld radios, one pair of NPF uniform, and fragmental jacket and charms."

 Major General Hassan Taiwo Dada, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army, urged the public to provide credible information to support the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in their fight against terrorism and other criminal activities. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the Emergency Telephone Line 193 for reporting such information.
