In Niger, Kaduna Army Kills 14 Terrorists and Rescues Kidnap Victims

   The 1 Division Nigerian Army has successfully eliminated 14 terrorists and rescued 13 individuals who were kidnapped in Niger and Kaduna States. According to a statement released by Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division Nigerian Army, the operation took place on December 23, 2023. 

  Troops were deployed to clear out the remaining insurgent elements in Niger State. During the operation, they encountered insurgents in Madawaki, Shiroro Local Government Area, resulting in the neutralization of 2 terrorists. Several others managed to escape with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered 2 AK rifles, 2 AK rifle magazines, and 1 motorcycle from the encounter. 

  Continuing their mission, the troops proceeded to the camp of the eliminated insurgent leader, Ali Kachalla. However, his foot soldiers fled upon the troops' approach. A thorough search of the camp led to the rescue of 13 male kidnap victims who had been abducted in Niger State on October 13, 2023. Among the items recovered from the camp was an international passport believed to belong to a high-profile affiliate of the insurgents. 

  Additionally, military and warlike accessories were discovered. The rescued individuals were promptly taken to a military medical facility for necessary medical attention and later reunited with their families. The troops then moved on to another insurgent camp under the leadership of Alhaji Laye. 

  However, the camp was found to be deserted. The troops destroyed the camp after recovering four AK-47 rifle magazines. They subsequently returned to Madawaki, where they discovered an insurgent storehouse containing soft drinks, energy drinks, liquid peak milk, a generator, and food supplies. These items were also destroyed by the troops.

   The troops also conducted a follow-up operation in Kaduna State, as stated. In this operation, three insurgents were neutralized at Maidaro in Birnin Gwari LGA on Saturday. The troops successfully recovered one AK 47 rifle, one AK 47 rifle magazine, one dane gun, and two motorcycles. Additionally, the insurgent camp in Kidandan-Yadi of the LGA was destroyed, resulting in the neutralization of five insurgents. During this firefight, 12 motorcycles were recovered.

  On Thursday, the troops initiated an ambush at the Maro junction in the Kachia axis to prevent a kidnapping incident. As a result, three kidnappers were neutralized, and various items were recovered, including N15,000, mobile phones, a motorcycle, and cutlasses.  A 25-year-old man named Rabiu Ahmed, who had been abducted, was also successfully rescued.,

   In conclusion, on Sunday, the troops conducted another ambush in Kwanar Batero, targeting insurgents. One insurgent was neutralized, and several items were recovered, including an AK 47 rifle, a magazine, 7.62 mm rounds, and three motorcycles, among others.
