Lagos Officials Remove and Detain Street Vendors
Street vendors in various areas of Lagos state were removed and detained by the members of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, also known as Kick Against Indiscipline, on Wednesday.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Environment in the state, Kunle Adeshina, shared photos of the operation on his social media platform on Wednesday.
According to Adeshina, the operation was conducted under the orders of the Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
Adeshina further mentioned that the arrested individuals have been transferred to the relevant authorities for further action.
In his caption, he stated, "On Wednesday, operatives of LAGESC/KAI, acting on the directives of the Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, dislodged and arrested street vendors operating at various locations such as Oshodi Agege Motor road, Ikeja GRA, Old Secretariat, Suwebatu, Obanibasiri, Brown Street, all under the Oshodi and Ikeja area commands.
"The detained individuals for environmental violations were taken to the LAGESC headquarters and handed over to the appropriate department for further action."
