"Na school I come no be sambisa forrest"— Nasarawa state university protest kidnap of schoolmates

 

Students from Federal University Lafia in Nasarawa State have taken to the streets to express their dissatisfaction and protest against the repeated kidnappings of their fellow students by unidentified gunmen. The gunmen specifically targeted an off-campus residence near FULafia, where they abducted an unspecified number of students on Wednesday.

 A concerned individual shared pictures of the protests, highlighting the students' discontent with the ongoing incidents of kidnapping at FULafia. The photos were captioned, "Students of Federal University Lafia (Fulafia) protest against the frequent kidnappings of students within the school premises. The state government has allowed this madness to persist for far too long." 

According to reports, the kidnappers forcefully entered the off-campus lodge, taking an undisclosed number of students while firing shots into the air. Fueled by anger and fear due to the escalating insecurity, FULafia students took to the streets, holding placards with various messages such as 'Student Lives Matter' and 'A cry for one is a cry for all', demanding the immediate and unconditional release of their kidnapped peers, whose whereabouts are currently unknown. 

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Abubakar Ibrahim, confirmed the incident while stating that the exact number of abducted students is yet to be determined.

 The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, mentioned that the details of the kidnapping are still unclear when contacted.
