Police arrested a 24 year old individual for stealing cables.
A 24-year-old individual from Niger, named Seidu Ali, has been apprehended by the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command for the alleged theft of electrical cables.
The arrest took place on Wednesday on the Third Mainland Bridge. The Lagos State Police Command shared this information on Thursday through their official Twitter account.
The tweet read, "Yesterday, around 1pm, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad on routine patrol of Third Mainland Bridge arrested a suspected cable thief and retrieved from him four bounded strands of cables.
"The arrest of the suspect, a Nigerien, Seidu Ali (24), was the second in three weeks.
"He had earlier been arrested and reprimanded for attempting to steal cable on Third Mainland Bridge.
According to their tweet, the suspect was caught with four bundles of cables during a routine patrol by the Rapid Response Squad on the Third Mainland Bridge around 1pm yesterday.
This is the second time within three weeks that Seidu Ali, a Nigerien national, has been arrested for attempting to steal cables on the same bridge. The RRS Commander, Olayinka Egbeyemi, has ordered for the suspect to be promptly charged in court.
